Father Pierre J. Plante was born in Providence and educated at St. Lawrence School, North Providence and Our Lady of Providence Seminary High School and College in Warwick.  He studied for the priesthood Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick and St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts.  Bishop Kenneth A. Angell ordained him to the priesthood on May 6, 1978 at St. John the Baptist Church in Pawtucket.  He served as assistant pastor at Holy Ghost, Tiverton, St. Mark, Cranston; as chaplain, Rhode Island Hospital, Providence and Bryant College, Smithfield and as pastor, St. Ambrose, Albion; St. Benedict, Warwick; St. Cecilia, Pawtucket  He also served as part-time auditor for the Diocesan Tribunal.  Father Plante has been pastor of St. Francis Parish in Warwick since July 2, 2011.  As of July 1, 2014, Father Plante was appointed pastor of St. Catherine in Warwick while continuing as pastor of St. Francis.
