Help for those in need

‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’

As Christians, we are called to help those in need.  St. Francis Parish regularly hosts food collections to benefit local food pantries as well as gift card collections to provide for those in the greatets of need.  While our parish cannot solve all the problems faced by so many Rhode Islanders, we can do our best to make a difference.

Food Collection

Baskets are located in the vestibule of the church for parishioners to deposit food for the needy.  The food collected is then sent either to the West Warwick satellite office for Catholic Charities and Social Ministry or to area shelters.  Cash donations are also collected at Thanksgiving and Christmas to provide food holiday food baskets.

Gift Cards

During the season of Advent, a Jesse Tree is set up in the church so that parishioners may hang gift cards for grocery or department stores.  These cards are then distributed to needy parishioners or to area shelters.

Those looking for emergency assistance should contact the West Warwick satellite office of Catholic Charities at 401-823-6211.
